If your question is not covered in our factsheets, contact us directly for advice.

What we offer

Our factsheets and FAQs provide information about your rights in pregnancy and childbirth. If your situation is not covered, we will advise you directly.

We endeavour to reply promptly to all enquiries and within three working days.

Our factsheets are correct at the time of writing and publishing.

What we cannot offer

Our advice service is run via email only and we do not offer a telephone service.

We cannot offer advice on maternity care issues outside of the UK.

Birthrights does not provide legal representation.

We do not provide information or advice about clinical negligence claims. If you believe you have suffered negligent treatment during childbirth, you should contact a lawyer specialising in clinical negligence law.

We are not able to refer you to an individual solicitor or formally endorse a particular firm, but you may wish to consider contacting our partners Bolt Burdon Kemp, Irwin Mitchell or Leigh Day. While our partners support our general fundraising efforts, we receive no referral fees from any law firm if you contact them from our information. Any contact you have is completely confidential between you and the firm.

Please note that we cannot provide maternity employment advice. For questions on maternity employment law or benefits during pregnancy, please contact Maternity Action.

If you contact us, your enquiry will be dealt with in confidence and according to the terms of our confidentiality policy. We will not reveal information about you to any other organisation or individual without your express permission, except in certain limited circumstances. Please contact us for a copy of our confidentiality policy if you would like further details.
